As a forty two/nearly forty three year old, office based, over
weight, cigar smoking, male who occasionally/regularly participated
in a few beers after work decided that the Lincoln
10K would be a piece of cake; after a few more beers
I stated with a bit of training I could even win the thing.
Having being reminded the next day by an ex friend of my boasts
we decided that I would run the 10K for a very worthy local charity.
I went for my first run some six weeks ago and very quickly realized
that I might need some help. This is where Paul came in, thankfully,
having been recommended by a friend. I explained my goal
to Paul & gave him a brief outline of my relaxed life
style & listened intently to what he had to say. After
five weeks of, no alcohol or cigars, programmed exercising of
5 to 6 times a week and losing 16 pounds, which is predominantly
down to Pauls expertise and support I run the 10K on Sunday,
although I would not advise backing me at the bookies I am looking
forward to a decent time and a celebratory & hard
earned beer with Paul, after all we deserve it.
